We have a headstone in the Augustinian Abbey with the following inscription: Erected By Mr. John Shea of Fethard In memory of his daughter Ellen Shea who departed this life on the 1st of June 1857 aged 19 years. Also his daughter Catherine Shea departed this life on the 20th June 1864 aged 23 years. Also his wife Bridget O’Shea (Alias Cooney) who died 11th Sept. 1867 aged 54 years. The above John O’shea who died 11th Oct. 1873 aged 82 years Requiescant in Pace. Amen. We have a James Cooney, Rathdrum, Fethard, born on Apr 2 1937. Father - Michael Cooney, Creamery Manager. Mother - Margaret Cooney, formerly Quinlan. John Cooney, age 84, died Aug 19, 1892. Cappindrummin, Killusty and Kiltinan. Farmer. John Cooney, Age 70, died Mar 15, 1865. Kiltinan. Shepherd. Married. Bronchitis, chronic, 3 months, certified. Michael Cooney, son to deceased, present at death, Kiltinan. John Cooney, age 31, died Nov 14, 1880. Coleman Fethard. Married (Farmer). Pneumonia (6 days). Certified Con. Lonergan (present at death) Rathdrum. John Cooney, age 83, died Jan 27, 1872. Barrettstown, Fethard, Married (labourer). James Cooney, age 52, died Jan 20, 1871. Coleman, Fethard. Bachelor (farmer). Cirrhosis (2 years) anasarea (6 weeks). Certified. John Cooney (present at death) Coleman,Cromptmore. Ellen Cooney, age 60, died May 20, 1877. Arbour Hill, Fethard. Widow (of a farmer). Bronchitis (1 month). Uncertified. Denis Cooney occupier Arbour Hill. Killusty and Kiltinan addresses are at the foot of Slievenamon. Hope this is of help, Nice page you have here! I have some Great, Great Grandparents that were born around there. Under the shadow of Mt. Sleivenamon or what ever that mountain is over there! My Great Great Great Grandparents were supposedly John Cooney who married an Ellen Laughlin and had several children. One of which was my Great Great Grandfather Timothy Cooney. Any information?
