Subject: Footpaths in Fethard

Message Detail:
On a recent visit to the town I observed a person in a wheelchair trying to manouvre safely on the main street at the junction with the Rocklow Road. I noticed that they were forced onto the carriage way between parked cars at the entrance to Whyte's garage where the kerbing has been lowered. On closer examination I noticed that the footpath at either side of the junction with the Rocklow Road has not been lowered. This is the main footpath serving the Parish Church, the Credit Union office, the Bank, the Garda Station and the funeral parlour from the barracks side of the town. I would therefore request that pressure be brought to bear on the relevant authorities to lower the footpath to facilitate disabled persons safe usage in compliance with European regulations.
