Subject: RE: Margaret Carroll (formerly Sheedy) |
|
James Sheedy was married to Mary Sheehan from Tinrush, Killusty, around 1833 and had four sons, Matthew, Edward, William and James. Matthew emigrated to Australia 1879, aged 21. Edward emigrated to Australia 1882, aged 20. William also emigrated to Australia (no details). James stayed at home. Two brothers, Jim and Michael Sheedy, were probably sons of James who stayed at home. These two boys were orphaned around 1911-1912 and were raised by their grandmother, Mrs Carroll, at Cashel Road, Fethard, Co. Tipperary. It is said that Jim became a famous hurler and hurled for Tipperary. More details can be had by contacting: Ron Sheedy, 59 Fingal Street, Tarragindi 4121, Brisbane, Australia.
